Spa & Swim Jets

Spa & Swim

Enjoy the low impact benefits of exercising in water.

A swim jet is a strong flow of aerated water, usually in the end of a pool that enables a swimmer to swim continually even though the pool may be only 5m long.

An electrician provides additional electrical power supply to the pump site which are usually located with the filtration equipment.

There is a wide range of quality, price and performance.

Some low priced small systems may give you a weak water flow and be unsuitable for an adult.

For example two x 1.5hp pumps and nonadjustable pool returns are cheap but almost useless.

If you are a serious swimmer and require unlimited distance swimming consider the

BADU Stream swim jet system

A Badu can create a flow of 2400 litres/ minute.

Powerful pumps, usually two x 4hp pumps, force the pool water through specially designed nozzles. The flow is adjustable and controlled from within the pool.

Price to supply and install may be $8000+

The Badu jet system and nozzles are built into the concrete pool shell at concrete stage.

The Badu system looks like two dinner plates in the end wall when it is not operating.

The water stream flow direction and performance are adjustable.

A massage attachment is also included with the Badu system .

Alternative aftermarket systems are available from $10000 and the equipment sits on the pool edge.

Some swim stream models do not aerate the water which suits swimmers who do not want bubbles in the flow.

I suggest a google search to be fully informed.

Spa jets

Water driven spa jets are usually located in the pool wall at a height that enables people to sit in front of the jet.

The jets are best located on a seat or ledge around 500mm below water level.

The most popular massage spa jets are aerated by a venturi air inlet that mixes air from the atmosphere with water pushed by a high performance pool pump.

A guide to pump size is one quarter horse power per jet so eight jets can be well serviced by a 2.0hp pump.

You can have multiple jets but the pump size will be critical to the spa performance.

When spa jets sets are located at different depths it is best to have a separate pump for each set to overcome the variation in water pressure at the jet.

Please consider pool heating if you are planning to have spa jets.

Most people find that sitting in front of a cold water spa jet is not pleasant.

An eight jet set with 2.0hp pump is available around $3000.

Air tracks and floor jets

Jets driven by air pressure create a bubbling appearance to your pool or spa.

In concrete pools an air track pipework can be built into the concrete floor at the concrete stage. The pipes are continued to the filtration area.

Careful marking of the pipe location on the floor is required because the pipes will be drilled with holes after plaster stage.

A high performance air pump called a blower is attached to the pipes at the filtration area.

Air is forced though the small holes and the effect provides massage for the people.

An upgraded system uses special nozzles called pepperpots and they look like pepper shakers in the floor.

A set of twelve pepperpots and air blower is approximately $1500.

Children especially enjoy this feature as it fill their costumes with air bubbles and blow little boats all over the pool.

Typical concrete spa set up

Concrete spa pools can be almost any shape and size.

A concrete spa pool 2.5m x 2.5m can be designed with seats and ledges and can easily cater for a group of up to eight people.

One set of eight venturi massage jets and one set of twelve pepperpots is a popular specification.

Spa heating is essential for all year use of your spa.

Gas heating is the first choice because of the rapid heat up time.

It is possible to select a gas heater that can heat the pool and the spa and have the temperature different in the pool to the spa.

What our Happy Clients Speak About Us

Gil was great. He accommodated our every need where others tried to scare us away from what we wanted by quoting exorbitant prices and advising us against doing what we wanted. Gil is down to earth, honest and very accommodating. His prices are competitive but his quality and after service are second to none. 3 years on and I can ring him or email him and his team and they are happy to help.
