15m x 6m out of ground Infinity edge pool on side of a hill by Oasis Pools

Penny Young who had recently arrived from New Zealand, invited Gil Howard to design a pool for her new home in WA The sloping acre of land was covered with overgrown shrubs, huge gum trees, and a number of neglected orchard trees. Gil also noted huge boulders that were located throughout the site. Following a fight through the undergrowth, Gil pulled out 15m on his tape measure.

After a lot of discussion, Penny agreed to the pool size being 15m x 6m for a heated out of ground pool with decking on three sides and an infinity edge on the western side which has city views.

Gil Howard prepared sketches and a detailed quote complete with 3D pictures of the anticipated pool.

Mark Edwardes from Scott and associates engineers designed the self-supporting out of ground pool

The pool specification included additional steel and thicker concrete than a standard pool.

Penny also mentioned that she was planning a new house near the pool and Gil recommended Gary Green at Custom Built Homes as reputable architect and builder.

The new house negotiations are now in progress.

To assist in obtaining the correct levels on site, Gary Green marked the pool levels and set out the pool shell with Gil Howard.

Oasis Pools built the self-supporting out of ground concrete pool shell and extensive holding gutters on the site during the winter months.

The earthworks required a huge excavator, excavation of clay and roots and many very large rocks that due to their size remain on site as landscaping features.

Smooth timber form boards created a smooth out of ground wall on all sides.

Penny then selected beautiful cream coloured waterline tiles from Osborne Ceramic for the waterline and infinity edge.

The overflow walls were clad in Neutral light coloured stacked stone supplied by Australis pavestones

The over flow holding gutter surface was sky pebble golden sand mix to match the brown tones of the stacked stone walls.

The bull nosed pool edge coping was specially cut Madagascar Gold stone bull nose stone pavers installed on the pool and the holding gutters and supplied by Australis Pavestones.

Another feature was the circular triple dolphin mosaic in the end wall supplied by The Pool Tile Company and installed by Oasis Pools.

The dolphins represent the three Children of Penny and Paul Young and this feature is in full view from the house end.

The interior Dura quartz plaster was Cayman, a slightly green product, supplied by Kirkside products

The final water colour reminds Penny of the Greek islands.

Four flush mounted clear LED lights by Spa electrics create a magnificent evening picture.

Extensive timber decking stained to Jarrah and glass fencing was designed and installed by Gary Green and the team from Custom Built homes

The quality pool filtration equipment was supplied by Zodiac.

The equipment included:

Two separate systems of large Zodiac 460 cartridge filters with two high performance VS multi speed pumps connected to two individual Zodiac XO salt chlorinators

A Zodiac PH perfect acid feeder with acid injection controls the pool chemistry.

A commercial sized Zodiac 35Kw heater and intelliheat control box heater was hard wired by the electricians from Live- n- up.

Zodiac Aqualink remote control system was also installed with up to eight options on the remote hand set.

The water level was managed by Water witch top-up system from Chadson engineering.

In addition Penny selected the Zodiac latest Robotic cleaner to vacuum the pool.

The robot has been named Gil.

The Pool plumbing required specialist design work to automatically balance the two levels of water and maintain the infinity edge overflow.

The pool has two surface skimmer boxes that are also connected to the holding gutter pipework.

Pool West chemical suppliers supplied the pool treatment and instruction to Penny Young

Elite pool covers supplied and installed a hideaway cover box with a remote control automatic winder and a Clearview pool blanket

Again the very talented building team of Steven Smolders and Daniel Jennings completed almost all of the work on the entire pool with occasional help from other specialist tradesmen.

The Oasis Pool contract was over $250000.

What our Happy Clients Speak About Us

Gil was great. He accommodated our every need where others tried to scare us away from what we wanted by quoting exorbitant prices and advising us against doing what we wanted. Gil is down to earth, honest and very accommodating. His prices are competitive but his quality and after service are second to none. 3 years on and I can ring him or email him and his team and they are happy to help.
