Installation Process

Your new Masterbuilt fibreglass swimming pool shell arrives at your home ready for installation. So what happens now? There are six key steps to pool paradise:

Step One - Excavation

The pool builder will arrive on-site and meet with you to position your pool template on the ground. We do this to make sure that you are happy with the location of the pool before excavation commences. The excavation of the pool site will begin and the hole will be dug a little wider and longer to accommodate plumbing.

Note: The normal entry access required to a site is at least three metres. If your access area is less then this size, it may be necessary to use a smaller excavator in combination with a bobcat and/or mini tippers, which may add to your installation costs.

Step Two – Site Preparation

Following excavation, the pool builder will ensure that the hole is the correct length, width, depth and angle. The pool builder will then lay a bed of blue metal dust on the base of the hole, where the pool shell will sit.

Step Three – Installing Pool Shell

Once the pool shell is positioned into the hole, the leveling and backfilling will begin. During backfilling, blue metal dust is washed around the shell of the pool. The water serves to compact the blue metal dust (crusher dust) around the shell. The pool builder will ensure that the blue metal dust is compacted under the steps, seats and any other contours. To maintain equal pressure on both sides of the pool walls, water is also introduced into the pool at the same rate as the backfill around the pool. Water pressure will dictate the speed of the backfilling and filling process. The plumbing for the filtration equipment is also installed during this phase, as too is the connection of the spa (if applicable).

Step Four – Concrete Bond Beam

Once the pool shell is installed into the ground, a concrete bond beam is poured around the pool. The plumbing is connected to the pump and filter and the pool is operational.

Step Five - Paving

Once the concrete bond beam is finished, the pool builder (or contractor) will start the coping around the swimming pool – ask our sales people about the choice of coping available.

Step Six – Pool Maintenance and Hand Over

Once the coping is finished, the pool is normally vacuumed and chemicals are added. The pool builder will then show you the correct way to operate and maintain the pool. It is now time to fence and landscape the swimming pool area – you can either ask your pool builder to assist you with this project or you might prefer to do it yourself. The choice is yours. However, if you do choose to conduct this part of the project yourself it is imperative that you immediately erect safety fencing around the pool.

At this point your new pool is complete, and you can enjoy your new backyard oasis!
